The application form for admission into the University of South Africa (UNISA) is open to all prospective students wishing to apply. As stated below, candidates are to submit their application online on or before the deadline. In this article, I will provide the requirements and steps on how to apply for admission.

Application Criteria & Eligibility
For you to qualify for the UNISA application, please ensure you have the following documents scanned into your disk.
- Have school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
- Have official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Have an ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- Have marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Have Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

- Select your programme
- Fill out the form
- Pay a non-refundable application fee
- Upload scanned copies of documents
- submit Application.
How to Check Application Status/Appeal/Offer
Visit the application portal enter your Student Number and click the check status.
Applying Without a National Senior Certificate
If you are in the category without a National Senior Certificate, first apply for an Exemption for degree studies by applying for online assessment at either the South African University or an Affiliated Private Higher Education institution. The exemption degree will determine if you are eligible to apply for degree studies or not. If you are not eligible, other steps will be provided for you to take toward admission to your studies.
Pay a non-refundable deposit on approval and get all certified documents. After this is done, head back to the degree application portal to apply for admission consideration.
International Students can also apply for online assessment to prove eligibility for the exemption of degree.
International Applicants should also submit an application on or before the deadline.
